If I were more spontaneous and without cares, now would be the perfect time to book a getaway trip. Just pick up and go to some exotic locale or unknown city. I am thinking it would be pretty close to heaven to be sitting on a beach reading or exploring little shops with chock-filled shelves for fun new treasures and ideas. In my fantasy I have only a small smart-looking suitcase (a carry-on as I am usually a very heavy packer) and a very “jackie-o” travel outfit. Taxi…..

Based on the crummy weather, I figured I would do a post focusing on all things yellow around the shop. If the sun wouldn’t come out I would just create my own sunshine. Funny enough, I feel as though I have had the sunniest of days based on all the happy things that have come my way…a visit from an artist friend who recently moved back to town, a darling new customer who needed some invitations for business but looked at wedding things as well for her fall celebration, the arrival of new merchandise, a wedding order, etc… All good. Now if only the real sun would come out.
In the middle of all the wedding activities around the shop this week, our shipment of russell + hazel binders arrived today and the new colors are even more wonderful than I had hoped. A rich espresso brown, regal plum, springy orchid, bling/bling gold and several fun patterns round out the new collection. Three new patterns of the rubber bands complete the look and keep everything locked and in place. In addition to the ever popular mini smartdate system, we have the big three ring binders that are great for school and for keeping track of all those loose papers that pile up around the house. I have one for each of my children. I use clear slip sheets and pocket folders so it is easy to keep dance schedules, clippings, tickets, pictures, etc. in one place. I write important dates on the inside cover which is a dry erase board. This company never fails to impress or excite me with their products. With weddings on my mind, there’s no question that russell + hazel is the perfect marriage of function and beauty.
Today continued to be all about weddings at the shop. I met with a bride who flipped over this russell + hazel wedding organizer. She had been looking for something that would keep all her things together and in one place…this was absolutely perfect. The set comes with a russell + hazel three ring binder, tabbed dividers, a planning notebook, post-it notes and plastic sleeves. Stylish and sophisticated, it is the ultimate accessory for the bride-to-be.

Right now my accessory of choice is a great pin. I love them on jackets, sweaters, dresses…basically anything that is sturdy enough to hold them. So with Valentine’s Day less than 24 hours away, my brooch today is this adorable paper medallion from Jonathan Wright. A love and romance badge of honor created from carefully folded italian paper, a letterpressed insignia and a fluttering pink grosgrain ribbon. Perfect for the holiday of love but also very fun for an engagement, bridal shower or wedding.
I arrived at the shop today after it opened and was greeted not only by my sweet helper but by the wonderful scent of our linnea’s lights candles. Since I burn one everday, I take for granted how great the shop smells. Coming in late reminded me of just why I carry this line of double-wick, soy candles. Right now we have cashmere, lemon verbena, sweet grass, blue agave, black vanilla, tuberose and pumpkin. I truly love them all and choose what I burn based on my mood for the day. Today is a “cashmere” day. Pre-selected for me but definitely the right choice for a cloudy, wintery day. Unfortunately my pictures aren’t scratch and sniff but they do show the exquisite packaging…very french looking. My favorite part is the little box of matches on the inside of the lid. I love the little extras. Perfect for the hostess-with-the-mostess, teachers, friends. This is the gift to give and to get (for yourself!).
Sometimes it is the littlest things that make the biggest impact. I think the BT element boxes do exactly that. They are available in lots of beautiful colors, shapes and sizes with tags and ribbons to match. Fill with your choice of goodies to make the perfect personalized favor for a wedding or party. I am so smittten that we ordered some for the shop. They are tied, tagged and filled with chocolate hugs and kisses for a sweet valentine’s day treat. Set these lovelies on a pillow or a plate or a desk to surprise that special someone. I bet you get a hug and a kiss back.
I have new product jitters right now. I just unpacked our order of TapeSwell decorative tape and I am in love. Here is something so simple (packaging tape) done oh so right. The patterns are fun, colorful and mix and matchable. Yes, it is beyond perfect for wrapping the cutest packages around or explore your creativity to come up with something out-of-the box. Planning a wedding? Checkout the TapeSwell blog for ingenious ideas. We also have some of their adorable mailing labels…big ones for packages and smaller ones for hip envelopes. And if I haven’t swooned enough about the tape, you have got to see the fabulous tape dispenser. It is an industrial, white metal, two roll dispenser. Perfect for a craft room. Got a package, a glass, a book, a blank card…tape it to the next level.
